As compensation for his services, the deputy commissioner shall be entitled to a fee of $10 for each item certified to him by the Auditor pursuant to section forty-four of this article. In addition thereto he shall receive a commission of fifteen percent on each sale or redemption, whichever is greater. A commission received on a sale shall be based on the sale price and a commission received on a redemption shall be based on the total taxes and interest due. Such compensation shall be paid as provided in this article.
