(5 ILCS 175/30-1) Sec. 30-1. Enforcement. The Secretary of State may investigate complaints or other information indicating violations of rules adopted by the Secretary of State under this Act. The Secretary of State shall certify to the Attorney General, for such action as the Attorney General may deem appropriate, all information he or she obtains that discloses a violation of any provision of this Act or the rules adopted by the Secretary of State under this Act. (5 ILCS 175/30-5) Sec. 30-5. Civil remedy. Whoever suffers loss by reason of a violation of Section 10-140, 15-210, 15-215, or 15-220 of this Act or Section 17-3 of the Criminal Code of 1961 or the Criminal Code of 2012 may, in a civil action against the violator, obtain appropriate relief. In a civil action under this Section, the court may award to the prevailing party reasonable attorneys fees and other litigation expenses. (Source: P.A. 97-1150, eff. 1-25-13.)
