§ 12-36-123. Procedure - registration - fees

(1) (a) All licenses shall be renewed or reinstated pursuant to a schedule established by the director of the division of professions and occupations within the department of regulatory agencies and shall be renewed or reinstated pursuant to section 24-34-102 (8), C.R.S. The director of the division may establish renewal fees and delinquency fees for reinstatement pursuant to section 24-34-105, C.R.S., and shall increase renewal fees consistent with section 24-34-109 (4), C.R.S., to fund the division's costs in administering and staffing the nurse-physician advisory task force for Colorado health care created in section 24-34-109 (1), C.R.S. If a person fails to renew his or her license pursuant to the schedule established by the director of the division of professions and occupations, such license shall expire. A person whose license has expired shall be subject to the penalties provided in this article or section 24-34-102 (8), C.R.S.

(b) The board shall design a questionnaire to accompany the renewal form for the purpose of determining whether a licensee has acted in violation of this article or been disciplined for any action that might be considered a violation of this article or might make the licensee unfit to practice medicine with reasonable care and safety. If an applicant fails to answer the questionnaire accurately, such failure shall constitute unprofessional conduct under section 12-36-117 (1)(aa).

(c) Applicants for relicensure shall not be required to attend and complete continuing medical education programs, except as directed by the board to correct deficiencies of training or education as directed under section 12-36-118 (5)(g)(III)(B).
