The superintendent of public instruction shall appoint a supervisor of agricultural education within the department of education. The supervisor shall be responsible for administering and disseminating to school districts information about agricultural education. The supervisor also may serve as the chair of the board of trustees of the Ohio FFA association, and may assist with the association's programs and activities in a manner that enables the association to maintain its state charter and to meet applicable requirements of the United States department of education and the national FFA organization. This assistance may include the provision of department personnel, services, and facilities.
The department shall maintain an appropriate number of full-time employees focusing on agricultural education. The department shall employ at least three program consultants who shall be available to provide assistance to school districts on a regional basis throughout the state. At least one consultant may coordinate local activities of the student organization known as the future farmers of America. Department employees may not receive compensation from the Ohio FFA association, but the department may be reimbursed by the association for reasonable expenses related to assistance provided under this section.
