NHHBG funds may be used for the provision of housing-related services for affordable housing, including:
Housing counseling, as defined in § 5.100, in connection with rental or homeownership assistance must be carried out in accordance with 24 CFR 5.111;
The establishment and support of resident organizations and resident management corporations;
Energy auditing;
Activities related to the provisions of self-sufficiency and other services;
Homelessness prevention activities, which may include short term subsidies to defray rent and utility bills of an eligible family;
Payments to prevent foreclosure on a home;
Tenant-based rental assistance, which may include security deposits and/or first month's rent; and
Other services related to assisting owners, tenants, contractors, and other entities participating or seeking to participate in other housing activities assisted pursuant to the Act and this part.
